Leading global transportation industry investment manager continues to advance sustainability commitments and capabilities

Amsterdam, Netherlands (August 1, 2024) – Realterm, an independent global investment manager focused on the transportation industry, has secured a “Very Good”, 4-star BREEAM certification rating for Rue de Luxembourg (77), its 6,620-square-meter, cross-dock truck terminal industrial outdoor storage (IOS) facility located on a 26,070-square-meter site in Lieusaint, France.

This is Realterm’s first asset in Europe to receive an ESG certification. After acquiring the high flow through (HFT) property in 2023, Realterm modernized and fully renovated the facility including a new façade, new loading docks and levelers, fully modernized office, social and sanitary areas – implementing sustainability features such as insulated cladding, windows, frames and doors, new skylights, new energy efficient electrical and HVAC systems, LED lighting, EV charging, green lease language in new leases, installation of smart meters, landscaping and bee hives to increase biodiversity.

BREEAM is a globally recognized sustainability assessment and certification system for buildings, evaluating environmental performance across categories like energy efficiency, water usage, and waste management. BREEAM certification promotes sustainable practices in building design, construction, and operation while providing a standardized benchmark for comparing environmental performance.

“Achieving this BREEAM certification for our asset marks an important milestone in Realterm’s ongoing sustainability journey,” said Shankar Narain, Associate Director of Property and Project Management at Realterm. “As we continue to measure, mitigate and offset our portfolio’s environmental impact, this further demonstrates our commitment to responsible property management by creating more resilient and sustainable assets for our investors and the communities where we operate.”

Rue du Luxembourg (77) has 80 loading positions and includes a stand-alone 5,360-square-meter site for parking. The property is strategically located only 32 kilometers from the center of Paris in the heart of the Sénart market, one of the dominant logistics hubs in the Ile-de-France region. The facility is conveniently positioned at the crossroads of France’s critical national highways and regional freeways within the PARISUD Business Park.

After the modernization and addition of sustainability components, the property secured two new leases earlier this year. Mondial Relay signed a 10-year lease on the truck terminal and Cargo-pal leased the excess IOS area.
