Annapolis, Md. (June 15, 2023) – Realterm announced today it has turned over a new, 132,000-square-foot facility that is part of the third phase of the Northeast Cargo Complex at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), one of the largest air cargo logistics providers and a leading provider of ground handling services.
The facility equips WFS with 122,000 square feet of warehouse space, 10,000 square feet of office space and more than 200,000 square feet of ramp space that can accommodate two group VI aircraft such as a Boeing 747.
“O’Hare plays a central role in the global supply chain as one of the most in demand cargo hubs in the U.S.,” said Michael Bender, Project Manager, Realterm. “Our new facility not only supports cargo operations at the airport but will help to create jobs and boost the local economy.”
The facility is targeting LEED Silver certification and is equipped with EV charging stations for electric forklift vehicles and solar panels. It features a sophisticated cold chain storage room that can be used for temperature dependent pharmaceuticals and food.
This Phase III project builds on Realterm’s success on Phase I and II and delivers further cargo capacity at O’Hare International Airport, cementing it as a leader in the global air cargo supply chain. Realterm was supported by a diverse construction team led BOWA Clayco Joint Venture and d’Escoto, Inc.
